Ecology and the History of Environmental Conservation

Meanwhile, back at the Palazzo...
Earlier this term I gave a paper at the annual conference of the European Ecological Federation.  It was lovely to be back in Rome for a few days; the conference itself took place in the Palazzo dei Congressi, one of the monumental marble buildings of the Esposizione Universale Roma district, south of the city centre.

Colleagues in Paris had invited me to open their session on "Ecologists' Strategies at Science-Policy Interfaces: How Can Social Sciences Help?"  And so my paper presented a global perspective on the history of the relations between ecology and environmental conservation.  My colleagues are planning a journal theme issue that will present the papers from this session.  But in the meantime, here are the slides from my talk.
