Something New: The Trent School of the Environment

The Trent Turtle -- our first field station in the 1960s
Trent University has a quite extensive history of environmental teaching and research.  Our Environmental and Resource Science/Studies Program was created 41 years ago, and so is now one of the oldest (and biggest) university environmental departments in Canada.  And we've been doing environmental research here for even longer than that.

We've been building our program ever since, including creating our new Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Program, with its own experimental farm and garden for campus food production.  But now we've gone further.  This year we've created a single unit the Trent School of the Environment that will  gather together all the environmental talent we have on campus, enabling even more collaboration on courses, research, and community activities.

So here's to the new era of environmental teaching and research at Trent!
