Here's a pair of reviews of Hannah Gay's recent book on the history of population ecology, The Silwood Circle: A History of Ecology and the Making of Scientific Careers in Late Twentieth-Century Britain.
The most substantial one is by Peder Anker, my brilliant New York colleague (and Chair of the Environmental Studies Department at NYU), newly available in Annals of Science.
And the second is my own, which appeared recently in Isis.
