Paving Paradise to put up a Conservation Community

Peterborough (where I live), like most growing towns, has a problem with suburban sprawl.  Here's an aerial photo of a recent development, just received from a local environmental organization.  It illustrates effectively how development can slice its way into a natural habitat, replacing it with a muddy field, and, eventually, new streets and houses.

The irony, as I described in an earlier post, is that this new development is advertised as a "conservation community," because it's right next to (and actually replacing) a natural area.  Remarkable.
