Environmental Studies course: Biodiversity Policies and Politics

Today I gave a lecture on biodiversity policy and politics to our first-year environmental science/studies course.  My plan was to i) explain the concept of biodiversity; ii) profile some of the major ways in which human activities influence other species; iii) describe the main actors in biodiversity policy; and iv) explain the importance of cooperative action (and patience) in biodiversity conservation.  And here are my slides:
